A consortium of Maytas Infrastructure, Nagarjuna Construction Company, Srei
Infrastructure Finance and Sarat Chatterjee & Company may lose the Machilipatnam
port project in Andhra Pradesh.
The project is expected to be handed over to Navayuga Group. The state
government and Navayuga have already completed the documentation required for
transferring the port development project.
The project has been designed to come up in about 6,200 acre with an outlay
of Rs 1,600 crore in Phase I. The project was awarded to Maytas consortium on
BOOT basis with a 30-year concession period. The port has been designed to have
12 berths with cargo handling capacity of 35 million tpa. However, it would have
three berths in the first phase with a cargo handling capacity of about 15
million tpa.
