On 16 September, Union Minister of Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy launched the sixth tranche of auction comprising 23 blocks (19 composite licence and four mining lease) across states, including key resources such as lithium, rare earth elements (REE), cobalt, tin, graphite, and potash.
The tender document sale will begin on 23 September, 2025, with bid submissions due by 01 December, 2025. The states include Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Telangana, and West Bengal. The Ministry of Mines has completed five rounds involving 55 blocks, of which 34 have been successfully auctioned to date.
The Union Minister also chaired a seminar in Hyderabad on the Centre of Excellence under the National Critical Mineral Mission, emphasizing India's push toward mineral self-reliance, technological advancement, and reduced import dependence. Highlighting the role of critical minerals in defense, electronics, and renewable energy, he advocated for a 'whole-of-government' approach and strong public-private partnerships.
