The land acquisition process for construction of a greenfield international
airport at Mopa in Pernem taluka of North Goa is expected to be completed by
March 2010, according to sources.
The airport requires 749 ha while the approach roads will require additional
84 ha. The airport is likely to be built on either BOOT or Build Operate Lease
and Transfer basis.
The project is in addition to the existing airport at Dabolim in South Goa
under the technical control of the Indian Navy.
