Pursuant to its plans of
setting up a handset assembly plant in India, US-based Motorola is currently
scouting for suitable locations. Andhra Pradesh is amongst the states being
assessed.
A team of officials reportedly
visited the proposed hardware park near the upcoming Shamshabad international
airport in Hyderabad.
The company would require at
least 50 acres of land, preferably in proximity to an international airport, for
its proposed manufacturing facility. The overall investment is likely to be
around Rs.1,000 crore spread over a period.
Motorola is likely to finalize
the location for its proposed Indian manufacturing unit within the next three
months.
