Hochtief of Germany has withdrawn from
the Mumbai-Delhi airport modernisation project, disqualifying its consortium
members -- L&T and Piramal Holdings -- from bidding for the project. It is
learnt that the two Indian companies have requested an extension in submission
date to enable scouting for a new foreign airport management partner.
On 13 September 2005, Changi Airports
of Singapore withdrew from the race citing tough conditions in the transaction
document. (See related news.)
The six bidders will have to submit
their bids today (14 September 2005). According to reports, the six bidders left
in the fray are optimistic of submitting their bids on the stipulated date.
