The Supreme Court, on 7 November 2006,
dismissed the plea filed by Reliance Airport Developers (Anil Ambani Group) that
challenged the finalization of the contracts for the Mumbai
and Delhi
Airports.
Reliance had challenged the
finalization of contracts and has alleged that different yardsticks were used in
selection process with a view to edging out the Anil Ambani group that had bid
for both airports. The two airports have since been handed over to the
respective private sector consortia.
The Supreme Court maintained that the
award of contracts followed a procedure that was in larger public interest.
