Six bidders, out of the eight
pre-qualified, submitted their technical and financial bids for the
restructuring of the Mumbai and Delhi airports on 14 September 2005, the final
submission date.
While all the six have bid for the
Mumbai airport, only five have done for the Delhi airport project.

The Union civil aviation ministry will
soon decide on the date for opening the technical bids and start evaluation.
Only those technical bids that surpass a "certain stage" will see
their financial bids being opened. Technical evaluation is expected to take a
month, while financial evaluation will be faster.
The government has maintained that the
process of selection of the final consortium for both the airports will be done
by end-December 2005.
Highlights of the Mumbai-Delhi Airport
Modernisation & Privatization Programme:
- The project will be implemented by
two distinct consortia.
- Airports Authority of India will
have an equity stake of 26 per cent in each of the SPV
- The cost of Phase I of the Mumbai
airport project will be Rs.2,600 crore, while that for the Delhi airport
will be Rs.2,800 crore.
