On 05 February 2007, Mumbai Port Trust
cleared the technical bid, subject to approval of the Central government for
appointment of the consultants for the Rs.152 crore cruise terminal. The
financial bid is likely to be opened soon.
The proposal was submitted by Zebec
Marine Consultants (India) Services in consortium with Dermello Ajamalli &
partners, Florida, USA. The consultants will be responsible for a geo-technical
survey, port traffic projections, marine architecture, urban redevelopment,
public place planning, waterfront development, convention centre, shopping
malls, entertainment centre and structuring of the project.
The project aims to facilitates for
berthing luxury liners, yatchs, ferry terminal and shopping malls. A decision on
the exact location will be taken by Zebec and Dermello and options for the
locations include Off Oyster Roack (near Sassoon Dock, Colaba), Ferry Wharf
(north of Victoria Dock), Radio Club (near Gateway of India) and Sewree
mudflates.

- Safe harbour for port crafts and
other flotilla
