The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) intends to upgrade the 75-km-long Ahmednagar bypass-Shirdi NH-160. The highway will stretch from Savali Vihir to the Ahmednagar bypass.
The project was announced in January 2021 at a cost of Rs 450 crore. However, the delays in execution increased the cost to Rs 750 crore.
According to NHAI officials, following the clearance of the fresh proposal by the company management, bids have been invited from the interested contractors to execute the project under the EPC mode.
The updated plan includes options for creating provisions for car parking after breakdowns, a seven foot-over bridge, one underpass, and setting up collision barriers. The project work is expected to commence in early 2023.
