Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE)
has proposed to construct a monorail (light rail system) along the
under-construction Bangalore-Mangalore Integrated Corridor (expressway) project.
The original project scope has provision for
development of two more lanes, thereby facilitating conversion of the four-lane
expressway into a six lane one. NICE has reportedly planned to utilize the
currently unused two lanes on either sides of the median for developing a
monorail corridor.
