The Telangana government has launched plans for a new greenfield expressway connecting Hyderabad and Vijayawada, reducing travel time to just two hours.
State Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced the project during an inspection at Vanasthalipuram Junction, highlighting its role in boosting regional connectivity and economic growth. He also reviewed the LB Nagar–Pedda Amberpet elevated corridor, a six-kilometre project costing Rs 650 crore to decongest busy city stretches and link with the Outer Ring Road. Four vehicle underpasses have been completed.
Updates were shared on other road projects, including the Rs 2,300 crore Gauravelli–Valigonda– Bhadrachalam Greenfield Highway, with construction underway between Valigonda and Thorrur and tenders in process for the Thorrur–Bhadrachalam section. Work has also commenced on the Rs 375 crore Andole Maisamma–Vijayawada road project.
Also, Seventeen identified accident black spots will undergo priority safety improvements. The state will adopt the hybrid annuity model (HAM) for upcoming road projects, blending government and private sector participation to enhance execution efficiency.
