NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has successfully commissioned 37.95 MW of its 300 MW solar project in Khavda, Gujarat, boosting its operational capacity to 262 MW.
This project is part of the larger 1,200 MW interstate wind-solar hybrid system under SECI's Tranche-V. The first phase of the solar project, with 142.2 MW, was commissioned in June 2025, followed by additional capacities of 32.8 MW and 49.125 MW. NGEL's total operational capacity now stands at 7,553.68 MW. Furthermore, NGEL announced the start of commercial operations for a 12.5 MW solar capacity in Bhuj, Gujarat, part of a 37.5 MW project by Ayana Renewable Power.
In September, 25 MW was also commissioned at this site. NGEL also commissioned 100 MW of renewable energy capacity at IRCON's 500 MW Pavagada Solar Park in Karnataka. In July 2025, the government approved a significant investment increase, allowing NGEL to invest Rs 200 billion in clean energy ventures.
