Reliance Industries will commence solar power generation in the first half of the next financial year from its renewable energy project in Kutch, Gujarat.
Spanning 5,50,000 acres—nearly three times the size of Singapore, the project marks a major milestone in Reliance’s journey towards achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2035. In a post-earnings investor presentation, the company stated that engineering and feasibility work is complete, and land development is underway. “Expected to start commissioning solar generation during the first half of the next year for captive requirements plus green fuels production,” it noted.
The project is part of the USD 10 billion ‘new energy’ push announced by Chairman Mukesh Ambani four years ago, and includes the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex. At Jamnagar, the company is also developing gigafactories to support solar PV, battery storage, and green hydrogen production. Reliance aims to produce three million tonns of green hydrogen annually by 2032 and build 20GWp of solar PV capacity and 100GWh of battery storage.
