NTPC arm NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indus Towers (ITL) to advance green energy objectives and assist in the government's efforts towards carbon neutral economy. The collaboration will focus on exploring joint development of grid-connected renewable energy (RE)-based power projects including solar, wind, energy storage, and/or solutions thereof.
ITL is targeting to expand its renewable energy portfolio to achieve GW-scale capacity across its operations nationwide, as part of its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions. ITL specialises in the deployment, ownership, and management of telecom towers and communication structures for various mobile operators.
NTPC having a total installed capacity of 76 GW has plans to achieve 60 GW of RE capacity by the year 2032 and currently, it has 3.5 GW of installed RE capacity and 28-plus GW under pipeline. With a presence in all 22 telecom circles, Indus Towers serves the wireless telecommunication service providers in India.
