NTPC and its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) have signed multiple agreements with the Government of Chhattisgarh at the Chhattisgarh Energy Investors Summit-2025 in Raipur. The total investment of Rs 96,000 crore aims to accelerate India’s energy transition and support Net Zero goals.
This investment includes a 4,200 MW nuclear power project in Chhattisgarh, estimated at Rs 80,000 crore, under an MoU between NTPC and the state government. Additionally, a 1,200 MW pumped hydro storage project worth Rs 5,876 crore will be developed in Sikaser, Gariyaband district, through an agreement between NTPC and Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company (CSPGCL).
Furthering renewable energy efforts, NGEL and CSPGCL signed a joint venture agreement to develop up to two GW of renewable projects in the state, with an estimated investment of Rs 10,000 crore.
These projects will aid in fulfilling Chhattisgarh's Renewable Generation Obligation (RGO) and Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO). The agreements were formalized in the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, along with senior government and NTPC officials.
