NTPC and the Government of Gujarat signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 09 October, 2025, during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Mehsana.
The agreement aims to explore joint opportunities in both conventional and nonconventional energy sectors, aligning with India's transition towards sustainable energy. The MoU exchange took place in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, and senior dignitaries including NTPC CMD Gurdeep Singh.
Additionally, NTPC Renewable Energy (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy (NGEL), has signed a MoU with the state government. The agreement aims to facilitate the development of renewable energy infrastructure in the state, including 10 GW of solar parks and projects, along with five GW of wind energy projects. This strategic partnership marks a major step forward in India’s transition to clean energy, aligning with national targets for sustainable power generation and carbon reduction.
NTPC, India’s largest integrated power utility, currently supplies one-fourth of the nation's electricity with an installed capacity exceeding 83 GW and an additional 30.90 GW under development, including 13.3 GW in renewables. The company is targeting 60 GW of renewable capacity by 2032, reinforcing its commitment to India’s Net Zero goals. NTPC’s diversified portfolio spans thermal, hydro, solar, and wind, and it continues to expand into emerging sectors like e-mobility, green hydrogen, battery storage, and waste-to-energy.
