NTPC and L&T are among those that have envisaged interest
in partnering with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) for the latter's proposed
liquefied natural gas (LNG) import and re-gasification terminal at Ennore, Tamil
Nadu.
The feasibility report on the proposed terminal project is
going on, which is likely to be ready by December 2010. The project estimated to
cost around Rs 3,450 crore is to be set up with a capacity of 2.5 million tpa,
which is likely to be raised to 10 million tpa.
IOC has already signed an MoU with Petronet LNG (PLL) for a possible participation in the
project based on which the details of a joint venture was to be sketched out.
IOC had wanted PLL on board for the project mainly to draw from Petronet's
experience in sourcing LNG.
