Nagpur district has secured nearly Rs 72.4 crore out of the Rs 381 crore allocated for urban infrastructure across Maharashtra, as part of a Government Resolution (GR) issued on January 9.
This makes up over 85 percent of the Rs 84.8 crore earmarked for Vidarbha, with Narkhed, Katol, and Mowad Municipal Councils receiving significant portions of the funds under the Centre-backed capital investment scheme. The funds will be used for various infrastructure projects, including the construction of wide development plan roads, cement concrete roads with sewer lines, and improved connectivity corridors linking residential areas to MIDC zones. Other Vidarbha districts, such as Yavatmal, Gondia, and Akola, received smaller allocations for specific local projects.
While Vidarbha’s share represents 22 percent of the total allocation, regions in Marathwada and western Maharashtra secured a much larger portion of the overall funding for significant urban and tourism-related developments.
