Nashik's (Ozar) Airport will see a Rs 556-crore expansion to accommodate the influx of visitors during the 2026–2028 Simhastha Kumbh Mela.
The project, set to complete before March 2027, includes a new integrated terminal and other ancillary works. A memorandum of understanding will be signed between the state government and Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL), which maintains the airport. The upgrade will increase the airport's capacity from 300 passengers per hour to 1,000 passengers per hour, ensuring smoother operations during the religious event. The Kumbh Mela, attracting millions, will run from October 2026 to July 2028.
