The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) plans to secure financing of Rs 750 crore from the World Bank to develop and upgrade the city's sewerage infrastructure.

In a meeting held at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, NMC officials presented their proposal to World Bank representatives, outlining plans to lay over 200 km of sewer lines across six city divisions, including emerging areas like Pachavati, Cidco, Nashik Road, and Satpur. The project also aims to replace ageing lines to improve the overall network. According to Ravindra Dharanakar, NMC's superintending engineer for water and sewage management, a detailed project report (DPR) is being prepared to finalise the exact length and cost of the project.

Currently, Nashik generates 323.3 MLD of sewage, managed by an existing 1,600km network. NMC has already floated tenders for 90km of new sewer lines at an estimated Rs 190 crore outlay. The project is partially supported by the Central government’s AMRUT scheme, with 50 percent funding from government sources.
