The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is planning to borrow up to Rs 2,800
crore over by 2012 to take up development work in 16 non-metro airports.
The proposed funds are likely to be raised either through bonds or private
placement. However, the final decision regarding the route for mobilising the
funds is likely to be taken soon.
The airports which are likely to benefit from the funds raised include at
least three in the South - Mangalore in Karnataka, Trichy in Tamil Nadu and
Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
