Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) has invited RFQs from potential developers for
construction and development of an iron ore handling port terminal at the West
of Breakwater (WOB).
MPT is planning to implement the WOB bulk handling terminal in PPP mode to
select a private developer to undertake the project on DBFOT basis.
The proposed project is estimated to cost Rs 721 crore. MPT has already
carried out a techno-feasibility study for the 8 million tpa terminal which can
be expanded to 12 million tpa later subject to the availability of adequate
railway rakes. The proposed facility is expected to cater to the export of
Karnataka Ore brought to Mormugao by rail.
The last date for submission of RFQs is 18 December 2009.
