Tractebel Engineering has bagged an order worth Rs 41.5 crore from GAIL to
provide project management consultancy for the construction of the Jagdishpur
(Uttar Pradesh)-Haldia (West Bengal) gas pipeline. In this regard, a MoU was
signed on 23 March 2010.
The pipeline is likely to supply natural gas from the Mahanadi and KG basin
to end-users in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar. The 2,050-km
long gas pipeline is expected to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 7,065
crore.
The Phase I is likely to include the construction of 800 km of 36-inch
mainlines. Along with the mainline, various spur lines of different combinations
of length and diameter will be constructed within 24 months of the commencement
of the project.
The Phase II is likely to include the construction of spur lines of two
different combinations and is expected to get completed within 36 months.
