Pipeline Infrastructure (PIL) and Crown LNG Holdings have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish pipeline connectivity between Crown LNG’s proposed terminal and PIL’s existing gas pipeline network in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. The MoU was signed on 10 July by PIL Managing Director Akhil Mehrotra and Crown LNG CEO Swapan Kataria.
Under the agreement, the two companies will create a connection between Crown LNG's planned 7.2 million tonne per annum Gravity-based Structure and Regasification Unit (GBSRU) at Kakinada and PIL’s nearly 1,400-km pipeline running from Kakinada to Baruch, Gujarat. The pipeline is currently used by companies like Reliance Industries to transport natural gas from offshore fields.
With this collaboration, the PIL pipeline will also transport imported gas for Crown LNG, enhancing the pipeline's utilisation by carrying additional volumes. The tie-in connectivity will allow for evacuation of approximately 25 million standard cubic meters of gas per day from Crown LNG’s terminal to major gas markets across western and northern India. Crown LNG plans to start terminal construction in 2026 through its subsidiary Krishna Godavari LNG Terminal Pvt Ltd, with project completion expected in four years.
