Northern Railway (NR) will set up a maintenance hub for Vande Bharat trains in Lucknow to enhance efficiency, punctuality, and the quality of high-speed rail services in the region.
The facility, located at the under-construction North Coaching Complex in Charbagh, is poised to become a dedicated servicing centre for these semi-high-speed trains. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Sunil Kumar Verma inspected the site on 10 July, 2025. The new facility will feature modern infrastructure, including maintenance pit lines, electric sheds, advanced water supply systems, and comprehensive waste and water management setups. Once operational, the hub will significantly reduce turnaround times by allowing local maintenance, thereby improving service reliability.
DRM Verma emphasised that the development is part of broader efforts to prepare Lucknow station for future high-speed rail demands. He also conducted a window trailing inspection of the Lucknow–Jaitipur section of the Lucknow–Kanpur rail line, reviewing safety systems, signal installations, level crossings, and passenger amenities.
