Oil India (OIL) has signed a deepwater exploration technology pact with TotalEnergies aimed at enhancing collaboration across critical offshore basins in India, including the Andaman, Mahanadi, and Krishna-Godavari (KG) basins.
Signed on 19 November, 2025, in New Delhi, the agreement will leverage TotalEnergies' global expertise in deepwater and ultra-deepwater exploration. The deal covers a range of activities such as the appraisal of gas discoveries in the Andaman Basin, exploration in ultra-deepwater blocks in Mahanadi and KG basins, and support for ongoing and future bidding rounds.
Oil India sees the partnership as a strategic move to expand its offshore portfolio and explore new hydrocarbon opportunities in frontier areas. The agreement was signed in the presence of senior government officials, marking a significant step for both companies' energy aims.
