Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has been declared the successful bidder under tariff based competitive bidding (TBCB) to establish an inter-state transmission system (ISTS) for the evacuation of power from pumped storage projects in Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh.
The order will be executed on a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis, with the letter of intent (LoI) issued to PGCIL on 04 September 2025. The scope of work includes setting up a new 765/400 kV pooling sub-station, bay extension works at other upcoming sub-stations, and associated 765 kV transmission line infrastructure across Uttar Pradesh.
This project is a critical step in strengthening the regional and national grid network, ensuring reliable evacuation and transmission of renewable and pumped storage power. With its proven expertise in large-scale transmission projects,PGCIL's role in this initiative will enhance power accessibility, stability, and efficiency while supporting India’s clean energy and storage integration goals.
