Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has been declared the successful bidder for a major inter-state transmission system (ISTS) project under the tariff based competitive bidding (TBCB) route.
The project, titled ‘Inter-Regional Strengthening between SR Grid and WR Grid,’ will be developed on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis. PGCIL received the letter of intent (LoI) on 29 September 2025, marking a key step toward enhancing grid connectivity and reliability across regions. The transmission project includes the construction of 765 kV double circuit (D/c) transmission lines that will pass through the states of Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Additionally, associated line bays will be installed at both ends of the transmission lines. This development will further strengthen inter-regional power transfer capabilities across southern and western regions.
