Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 11 inaugurated 184 newly built Type-VII multi-storey flats for Members of Parliament at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, New Delhi.
Spread across four towers — Krishna, Godavari, Kosi, and Hooghly, each flat offers around 5,000 sq. ft. of carpet area for living and official work. The complex includes office spaces, staff quarters, and a community centre. Built with advanced monolithic concrete and aluminium shuttering, the earthquake-resistant structures are also accessible for persons with disabilities.
PM Modi highlighted that over 350 MP residences have been constructed since 2014 to address the shortage, noting that high rental costs for Ministries earlier drained nearly Rs 1,500 crore annually. He emphasised that the new housing would allow MPs to focus on governance without accommodation issues. The project aims to provide modern, durable, and inclusive facilities, marking a significant upgrade to parliamentary housing infrastructure.
