Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two major infrastructure projects in Delhi — the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) — worth Rs 11,000 crore on 17 August, 2025, pledging to transform the capital into a “world-class city.”
The Dwarka Expressway will enhance connectivity between Delhi and Gurgaon, while UER-II is designed to decongest Inner and Outer Ring Roads and major choke points like Mukarba Chowk and Dhaula Kuan. The projects are expected to reduce travel time from Singhu Border to the airport to just 40 minutes.
PM Modi also highlighted the reuse of waste from the Bhalswa landfill for road construction, calling it a step towards freeing Delhi from garbage mounds. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said the projects would cut Delhi’s traffic by 50% and announced a planned five-km twin-tube tunnel under the southern Ridge.
