Gujarat is set to witness a major upgrade in its railway infrastructure with projects worth over Rs 1,400 crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off a passenger train between Katosan Road and Sabarmati, improving accessibility to religious destinations while enhancing grassroots economic activity.
Additionally, a new car-loaded freight service from Becharaji will be launched to strengthen logistics, boost industrial connectivity, and create jobs across Gujarat’s manufacturing hubs. The projects include doubling of the 65 km Mehsana–Palanpur rail line at Rs 537 crore, broad-gauge conversion of the 37 km Kalol–Kadi–Katosan Road line at Rs 347 crore, and conversion of the 40 km Becharaji–Ranuj line at Rs 520 crore.
Beyond railway expansion, the PM will inaugurate the widened Viramgam–Khudad–Rampura road, a six-lane underpass on the Ahmedabad–Mehsana–Palanpur route, and a new overbridge on the Ahmedabad–Viramgam road. Together, these initiatives aim to make travel and goods movement faster, safer, and more efficient while boosting regional trade and socio-economic development in North Gujarat.
