Patel Engineering has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Arunachal Pradesh government to restore and develop the 144 MW Gongri hydropower project.
Located near Dirang on the Gongri river, the project, which had been previously terminated, has been revived under the state’s new ‘Arunachal Pradesh Restoration of Terminated Large Hydropower Policy under Special Circumstances, 2025.’ The project, valued at Rs 1,700 crore, is set to be completed in four years. Patel Engineering will carry out the project on a build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) basis for 40 years, covering all stages, from the preparation of the detailed project report (DPR) to dam construction, equipment installation, and grid connectivity. The project is expected to generate clean energy, enhance local infrastructure, create employment, and foster sustainable development.
Kavita Shirvaikar, Managing Director of Patel Engineering, emphasised the company’s commitment to renewable energy and socio-economic growth through this partnership.
