Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has expressed confidence in the completion of the Polavaram Irrigation Project Phase-1 by March 2027, following his inspection of progress at the site in Polavaram.
During a review meeting with senior officials and contractors, the CM confirmed that the earth-cum-rock fill (ECRF) dam for Phase-1 would be set to 119 tmc-ft., which will allow gravitational water flow to the targeted regions. He also emphasised that the resettlement and rehabilitation of affected families should be completed by January 2027. The new D-wall, costing nearly Rs 1,000 crore, is now 81 percent complete.
CM Naidu stated that Phase-2 of the project would begin after Phase-1, with scheduled completion by 30 June, 2027. He also mentioned progress in the connectivity work, with twin tunnels expected to be completed by June 2026.
