Bengaluru's Pink Line Metro is one step closer to becoming operational, as Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has commenced power rail testing between Jayadeva and Tavarekere stations. This power rail supplies electricity to trains and is crucial for ensuring safe and efficient operations on the elevated track.
Currently, testing is underway on the 7.5-km elevated section stretching from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara. This marks the beginning of a multi-phase testing process which will also include signal checks, telecommunication systems, and structural tests using actual train runs.
The 21.3-km Pink Line, which will connect the southern and northern regions of the city, was originally scheduled to open in 2020 but has faced repeated delays. As per the latest schedule, the elevated section is expected to be operational by March 2026, while the more challenging 13.8-km underground segment will follow by September 2026. Once fully operational, the Pink Line is expected to significantly reduce travel time and enhance connectivity across Bengaluru.
