Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the state on December 20–21 to inaugurate major development projects.
On December 20, PM Modi will inaugurate the new terminal building of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, built at a cost of Rs 4,000 crore, and unveil an 80-foot statue of Bharat Ratna Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi. The upgraded terminal features a modern design, and an elevated corridor on the airport road will improve connectivity to Jalukbari.
On December 21, the PM will visit the Brahmaputra river terminal in Guwahati, participate in the 'Pariksha Pe Charcha' programme with 25–30 students. Later, in Dibrugarh, he will lay the foundation stone for the Rs 10,000 crore Namrup-IV ammonia-urea project, which will produce 12 lakh tonne of urea annually, boosting Assam’s industrial growth and exports.
