Prostarm Info Systems has been declared the lowest bidder (L1) by Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation (KPTCL) for a major renewable energy initiative.
The project involves setting up a 150 MW/300 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) at the 400kV Doni Substation, operating at a 220kV voltage level, in Gadag district, Karnataka. This contract has been awarded under the tariff based competitive bidding (TBCB) process on a build own operate (BOO) basis. The financial structure includes viability gap funding (VGF - state component) at a rental rate of Rs 2.54 lakh per MW per month, translating to an annual rental of Rs 45.72 crore for the 150 MW/300 MWh installation.
The project is planned for a 12-year operational period, ensuring long-term energy storage infrastructure and strengthening grid stability in the state. The declaration of lowest bidder underlines the growing role of energy storage in supporting renewable integration and providing round-the-clock reliable power supply across the state.
