Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday laid the foundation stone for sewerage and water supply projects worth Rs 138.82 crore in Sri Muktsar Sahib, a historic city.
	
	Addressing a public gathering at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, he announced that ?90.68 crore will be spent on developing a new sewerage system and Rs 48.14 crore on upgrading the water supply network. The projects aim to benefit around 1.58 lakh residents across 31,000 households, ensuring clean drinking water and proper drainage.
	
	CM Mann noted that these are the first such major initiatives in 30 years. Highlighting the poor state of the existing infrastructure, he said the new system will resolve chronic blockages and provide services to newly developed colonies, especially around Sri Darbar Sahib.
	
	Two overhead water tanks will be constructed, and Rs 17 crore has been earmarked to restore affected roads and municipal streets.
