The Punjab government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), Mumbai.
The pact has been inked for setting up Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital (HBCH) at Sangrur. This is to impart quality diagnostic and treatment facilities to the people in the
cancer-affected Malwa region of the state.
HBCH will have 10 day care beds, three intensive care unit beds, three recovery beds and eight in-patient beds. Besides having chemotherapy and surgical facilities, this centre will also consist of high-end cancer diagnostic and treatment facilities, and RT treatment requirements like 3D-CRT, SRS, IMRT, IGRT etc. In the coming four to five years, it is estimated that the HBCH will cater to about 2,500 to 3,000 cancer patients.
The centre is likely to be inaugurated shortly. This centre is part of the state government’s commitment to eradicate the menace of cancer from Punjab by setting up state-of-the-art cancer diagnostic and treatment centres across the state.
