The board of directors (BoD) of Punjab State Power Corporation (PSPCL) cleared the proposal to set up two power projects in Bathinda, Punjab.
The company is all geared up for setting up a 100 MW solar power plant at Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Power Plant in Bathinda district at a cost of Rs 450 crore.
Talking to Projects Today, the officials at PSPCL confirmed that soil testing process was underway on the site. Once the detailed project report (DPR) is ready and the company gets all the government clearances, work on the project will commence. The work is expected to commence by June 2019.
Another project initiated by PSPCL is a 60 MW paddy straw-based biomass power unit. The project will cost Rs 150 crore. As confirmed with Projects Today, DPR for the project has been submitted and the work was expected to commence by May 2019.
The company is currently awaiting clearances from the state government to take off the projects. In the meantime, PSPCL is expected to float tenders for developing both the projects. Contractor and machinery supplier are yet to be finalised.
