Industry and Commerce Minister Sanjeev Arora has announced a Rs 100-crore infrastructure and policy initiative to strengthen Punjab’s industrial ecosystem, placing Ludhiana at the heart of the growth strategy.
The Minister revealed that the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC) has earmarked the funds for infrastructure upgrades at industrial focal points, with tenders worth Rs 70 crore already issued and the remaining Rs 30 crore under process. Highlighting Ludhiana’s central role, he stated that the Municipal Corporation will invest an additional Rs 55 crore to improve connectivity, facilities, and industrial support systems.
A key highlight was the unveiling of plans for three world-class exhibition centres in Ludhiana, Amritsar, and Mohali to host trade fairs, innovation showcases, and industrial exhibitions. “The land for the Mohali centre has already been identified, while suitable locations are being finalized in Ludhiana and Amritsar,” Minister Arora said.
He also announced the creation of an independent authority to manage infrastructure at focal points and estates, addressing critical needs like sewerage, roads, and lighting.
