REC, a Maharatna public sector enterprise, has established a new subsidiary, Munak Power Transmission, to advance its power infrastructure development initiatives.
Munak Power Transmission is a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL), which in turn is a subsidiary of REC. Thus, Munak Power Transmission becomes a direct subsidiary of REC under the Companies Act, 2013. The primary objective of this new entity is to develop a 400 kV substation at Munak in Haryana, along with associated transmission lines, to evacuate 800 MW of power from the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant in Yamunanagar.
The project, allocated by Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPNL) on 01 October, 2025, designates RECPDCL as the bid process coordinator (BPC) under the tariff based competitive bidding (TBCB) framework. Upon the selection of the successful bidder, the company and its assets will be transferred according to regulatory norms.
