The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has approved an inter-state transmission licence for Mandsaur I RE Transmission, which has now been renamed as POWERGRID Mandsaur Augmentation Transmission.
This licence, granted on 05 January, 2026, enables the company, a fully owned subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) to support a major infrastructure project at the Mandsaur substation. The project aims to enhance transformation capacity and connect renewable energy projects to the national grid. The work will involve advanced technical upgrades, including the installation of 400 kV and 765 kV bus sections, Inter-Connecting Transformers, and line bays. These upgrades are essential for integrating large-scale solar, wind, and hybrid energy projects from developers like Waaree Renewables, NTPC Renewable Energy, and JSP Green.
The project follows a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) model, with commercial operation scheduled between March 2027 and March 2028. The licence will remain valid for 25 years, subject to compliance with technical standards.
