REC Power Development & Consultancy (RECPDCL) has incorporated two wholly-owned subsidiaries, WR ER Part A Power Transmission and WR ER Part C Power Transmission, for the development of interstate transmission schemes under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mechanism.
These subsidiaries will serve as special purpose vehicles (SPVs) for the WR-ER Interregional Network Expansion Scheme, aimed at addressing critical transmission bottlenecks between Western and Eastern regions. The two SPVs will handle different parts of the scheme, with developer selection taking place through the TBCB process.
RECPDCL was appointed as the bid process coordinator for the projects by the Union Power Ministry in September, 2025. The initiative aims to mitigate transmission congestion in anticipation of peak solar demand by 2028-29, and facilitate evacuation of thermal power from Chhattisgarh’s Western Regional Grid.
