RITES has successfully commissioned the Dalmia–Salanpur railway siding for Eastern Coalfields (ECL), a subsidiary of Coal India, marking a major step in improving coal dispatch operations.
This new siding significantly boosts ECL’s ability to evacuate and dispatch up to six MTPA of coal, enhancing supply chain efficiency for power plants and industrial consumers nationwide. The project, which involved complex engineering, integrates the mine’s dispatch system with the national railway network. The infrastructure includes a 2.25 TKM track route, along with 4.60 TKM of track laying, including the Dalmia In-Plant Yard. Civil works involved the construction of a Road Over Bridge (ROB), minor bridges, and vehicular underpasses for local mobility.
The electrical and signaling systems are equipped with high-tension overhead equipment (OHE) and advanced electronic interlocking (EI) systems for efficient and safe train operations. This expansion will streamline coal transportation, bolstering the overall coal supply chain for the country.
