RVNL-GPT JV has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for the construction of a new rail-cum-road bridge over the river Ganga in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
The site is located 50 mtrs. downstream of the existing old Malviya Bridge near Kashi Railway Station, and the scope of work includes the design and construction of a bridge with an 8 x 108.5 m + 2 x 103.3 mtrs. Open Web Steel Girder, designed for four-line railway tracks on the lower deck and a six-lane road on the upper deck. The work also involves the construction of railway and road approaches, as per the general arrangement drawing (GAD), along with associated overhead electrification (OHE) and general electric works. The estimated value for the project is approx. Rs 1,201.36 crore, and the execution time set for this contract is 48 months.
The joint venture consists of Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) holding a 60 percent share and GPT Infra Projects holding a 40 percent share.
