Union Minister of State for Railways is likely to spend Rs 2,200 crore on construction of the rail coach factory at Sonipat in Haryana.
The annual manufacturing capacity of the factory will be 1,000 coaches, but initially the company will manufacture 400 coaches in a year. The state government is likely to provide 400 acre of land for the factory.
Meanwhile, BEML envisages setting up a rail coach factory with a capacity of 400 coaches per year at Kanjikode in Palakkad district of Kerala with an investment of Rs 550 crore.
