The Rajasthan government, led by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, has approved land allocation for state enterprise Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (RVUNL) to develop large-scale renewable energy parks in Jaisalmer and Bikaner.
This landmark decision includes solar projects with a combined 26,400 MW capacity in Jaisalmer and 5,200 MW in Bikaner, totalling 31,600 MW. The initiative aligns with Rajasthan’s sustainable development goals and strengthens India’s commitment to clean energy. According to officials, these parks will position Rajasthan as a frontrunner in renewable energy while creating substantial employment opportunities for local youth. Thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities are expected to arise from the projects.
Beyond employment, the development is anticipated to accelerate regional economic growth by fostering infrastructure expansion and attracting green industry investments. Chief Minister Sharma emphasised that the projects will enhance Rajasthan’s renewable capacity, secure energy supply, and support India’s broader clean energy transition. This move underlines the state’s leadership role in the national renewable energy sector.
