World’s biggest community-based micro irrigation project ‘Ramthal micro irrigation’ was dedicated to the nation by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on 28 February 2018.
Ramthal is a drought-stricken region in Hungund taluk, Bagalkot district of Karnataka. The irrigation project is spread over 60,000 acre covering 55 villages.
The irrigation project entailing an investment of Rs 786.11 crore has has been implemented by Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam and has a built-in operation and maintenance for five years.
The drip irrigation project has fully automated pressurized pipes till the farm heads.
