ReNew Photovoltaics, a subsidiary of ReNew Energy Global, has announced plans to establish a greenfield six GW solar ingot-wafer manufacturing plant in Rambilli, Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh, with an investment of Rs 3,990 crore.
This will be India’s first commercial-scale integrated ingot-wafer manufacturing unit, producing key components for solar cells and modules. The project, approved by the Andhra Pradesh State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), aims to reduce India's dependence on imported components, particularly from China, and support the nation’s goal of achieving 300 GW of solar capacity by 2030.
The facility, supported by the Government of India’s production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme, will be developed on approximately 130–140 acres of land, with commercial production expected by January 2028. Once operational, the plant will create around 1,200 employment and serve as a key hub for solar and clean energy technology in India.
