Reliance Industries is planning to set up an information technology (IT) Park at
Navi Mumbai, it is learnt. The project is estimated to entail an investment of Rs.2,000 crore.
The project to be developed on 450
acres of land is owned by National Organic Chemical Industries (Nocil) that is
now part of Reliance (Mukesh Ambani) Group.
The company is in the
process of obtaining necessary approvals and will have to obtain a no
objection certificate (NOC) from MIDC to convert the Nocil land, which was
meant for chemical production, for developing it as an IT city.
Reliance has finalised the master plan
for the IT park, which is likely to generate at least 1.2 million jobs in the
next five years. The IT park will be a part of Dhirubhai Ambani Corporate City,
the proposed headquarters of the company.
